Neil Prashad

Neil Prashad

President & CEO

Neil Prashad has been involved in the real estate development and retirement housing
industries in Canada and the USA since 1987. He has an undergraduate degree in
Urban Planning from the University of Waterloo and two Masters degrees from MIT
where he focused on developing Continuing Care Retirement Communities.
While at MIT, Neil also completed the Health Care Administration course at the
Harvard Business School.

Prior to acquiring Origin, Neil was the first Chief Operating Officer then Executive Vice
President of Amica Mature Lifestyles. While with Amica, Neil was instrumental in
creating and implementing the business plan that saw Amica grow from 4 to 22
facilities and develop new CCRCs in Vancouver and Toronto. Neil was the key figure
in the development of these CCRCs, and he held the responsibilities of community
design and functional programming, preparation of disclosure and other documents
for condominium sales, management of the marketing and condominium pre-sales
process, pre-opening operations planning, and the implementation of staffing and
operational systems for post-opening management of the completed facilities. Neil has
published many articles on seniors’ housing in trade journals and has been a speaker
at several national conferences. He was past Chairman of the Advisory Working Group
on Seniors Housing for the Region of Peel in Ontario and is a Sessional Lecturer in the
Real Property Program at York University’s Schulich Business School.

Todd plays a central role in Origin’s UK expansion, establishing key relationships with
investors and development partners. With over 30 years in the property industry, he’s
gained extensive experience across a broad range of asset classes. In Canada, Todd
worked for both private and institutional employers, including the country’s largest
landowner. Since moving to the UK in 2002, he’s been involved in real estate
development, set up a boutique property finance brokerage, and held board positions
in the investment management and sheltered housing sectors.

Todd holds a BCom in Urban Land Economics from the University of British Columbia.

Kerry McGregor

Kerry McGregor is a trained Interior Designer and Aging-in-Place Specialist. For the past 14 years, Kerry McGregor has been spearheading the Interior Design department within Origin. She works closely with the architects, interior design firms, and consultants to ensure Origin’s projects are completed to our high standard while simultaneously making sure our budgets are on target.

Kerry coordinates the research, selection, procurement, and installation of furniture, fixtures, and equipment (FF&E) for new Origin properties and existing communities.

Kerry is involved from the initial conceptual stages of the project to the finishing touches at the time of completion. She is also the point person for existing communities to call upon for ordering additional materials. (Furniture, signage, etc.)

Carrie first joined Origin in 2004 as a new Recreation Therapy graduate from the University of Alberta.  Carrie soon found that Origin’s vision of active living and community member engagement were the perfect place to grow her expertise in program design, research and community development. In 2009, Carrie took on the role of Manager of Life Enrichment programs for Origin, developing branded programs, building capacity in the Life Enrichment team and ensuring that Origin lived up to it’s promise of being the gold standard of active living communities. Carrie has done extensive work in the areas of fall prevention, dementia care, older adult fitness and brain health. Carrie was also instrumental in the pre-opening commissioning and marketing of Swan Evergreen Village by Origin. 

In 2016 Carrie left Origin to pursue other opportunities. During her time away she 
developed an active aging strategy and program for a Senior’s Living Not for Profit serving low income older adults across 9 supportive living and 18 independent living communities. Opened as General Manager an independent living community reaching full occupancy in the first year of operations.  Carrie also managed a second independent living community, where she increased occupancy and provided operational and marketing support to the organization as a whole.  

Carrie was drawn back to Origin’s vision of engaged living and active wellness, returning in the fall of 2021.  Carrie supports marketing, sales, life enrichment and strategic partnerships. 

Carrie is currently pursuing a post graduate certificate in Professional Management from the 
University of Calgary and is an active member of the International Council on Active Aging, and a board member for the Calgary Seniors Housing forum society. 

Michelle Brijlal

Manager, Marketing & Design

Michelle Brijlal joined Origin in 2007 as Origin’s Marketing and Design Coordinator. Her continued dedication and talent escalated Michelle into her current role as Manager of Marketing and Design. With a background in Graphics, Advertising & Web Design, Michelle has become instrumental in managing the company’s branding initiatives, web, and marketing collateral materials, as well as design, and production both internally and externally over the past 14 years. Michelle is also responsible for overseeing marketing campaigns and on-going advertising in both print and online platforms for all of Origin’s new and existing properties.

Manager, Digital Marketing

Scott Young joined to Origin team in 2021 coming from a 15-year career in marketing, much of which was in the hospitality industry with positions such as Director of Sales and Marketing and Marketing Specialist. Filling a newly created position of Manager of Digital Marketing he brings many years of experience in building and managing websites, search engine marketing, search engine optimization, social media marketing, email marketing, and other on and offline marketing channels. Additionally, his experience in international marketing and campaign management will be an asset to the global expansion of the Origin Way.
